Flat/Flaky Coal has been more prevalent in the latest batch collected. This coal has a consistency similar to that of slate or shale, breaking off into thinner sheets and plates vs staying in a more solid 'ore' formation!

1 out of 5 starsVery disappointed. What I had hoped to receive for my $20 (including shipping) was a medium sized rock (lump of coal). Instead what I received a piece of tile - 3/4" at it's widest point by the absolute minimum: 4". I would have been better off $7 for one of those little baggies that say "lump of coal" on them. I could of ditched the bag and loaded up my little box with the chunks of coal. At least the Since this looks Iike a tile, it won't be clear what the recipient has received.

Sizing details
There are natural variations in the shapes and dimensions of coal pieces due to their nature (broken from seams and fractured by weathering and mining processes. When you order a size class, you are guaranteed to get pieces that are at minimum in one direction that size - for example, a 3-4 in piece may measure roughly 2 3/4 in on one side and 1 3/4 deep but on its longest side will be 4 in.
